Around Here

Around here there's been tons of volleyball, a beautiful goodbye party for good friends, new neighborhood walks, work events and big fake checks, lots of time outside, a new italian restaurant, park days, and a tequila tasting at work.

Belated and 1 Year

Seemed like a fitting title to this post, as everything on this blog seems to be belated. I got to that point again where thinking about blogging became stressful and the more I put it off, the more daunting it seemed, since so much time kept passing. So I decided to blog about what was still fresh on my mind.

We booked a fairly last minute long weekend trip to Cabo to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. That sentence still feels so strange to say; I'm still getting over the excitement of calling Felix my husband. This last year was incredible, and the few days we spent in sunny Cabo was the perfect way to cap off a truly beautiful first year of marriage. We read in the sun, drank margaritas, played volleyball, snorkeled, and recapped on all the awesomeness of the last year - moving to a new city, new jobs, new friends, and lots of memories in between. We can't wait to continue the celebration with friends and family in August at our 'second wedding.' Cheers to marriage, Wednesdays, and being back on the blog, for now at least! And here are just a few photos from our trip last week.

Santa Barbara

Last weekend, Felix and I took Friday off of work, packed up a rental car, and left super early for the scenic drive down to Santa Barbara. Neither of us (at least that I could remember) have driven the route between SF and SB so we were really looking forward to it. While the drive took a lot longer than expected (close to 8 hours), it was absolutely worth it. I forget how beautiful the Pacific coast is while driving on Hwy 1. We stopped in San Luis Obispo and decided we could easily live in a coastal beach town.

The purpose of the trip was to crash my parents' anniversary celebration, while attempting to surprise my mom. But I should have known better; I am my mother's daughter and it's truly impossible to successfully surprise either one of us. But the weekend ended up being just perfect; we explored downtown and State Street, visited all the old houses I grew up in, spent some much needed time poolside, and celebrated my mom and dad's 29th year of marriage. They are an unbelievable pair and I truly admire their relationship. Felix and I are so fortunate to have parents' who are still so, so in love.

It was so good to be back in Santa Barbara. Each time I'm back I have different and more vivid memories of my first 10 years of life. It's neat to go back as an adult and learn to experience and appreciate it for new reasons.

Here are just a few pictures from that weekend. Happy Monday night!

3 Smiles

So when I said I was 'back at it' a few weeks ago, I was obviously mistaken. Blogging has once again taken a back seat to the rest of my life, which is okay. But here is yet another effort at regularly posting again - starting with a few Friday smiles. Cheers to the weekend!
