I’ve been really bad about blogging since the start of the New Year; strange since one of my new year’s resolutions is to WRITE MORE. But at least I’m fitting in a second post this month, and I’ll try my best to be better starting in February.
One big dilemma in the last few weeks was Felix getting sick for the first time in 5 years! Seriously, he has not been sick since I’ve known him (with the exception of food poisoning once while we were traveling through Hungary ). And if anyone has ever taken care of a sick man, then you know what I mean when I say they become the sickest anyone has EVER been; no one can even understand how sick they are because it’s way more awful (Insert sarcastic undertone). It was, however (selfishly) really fun getting to take care of him for a few days. I even let him ‘milk’ the sickness a few extra days. I mean the guy only gets sick every 5 years. Now, he is very busy with school and applying for jobs (fingers constantly crossed).
Life in our house has been relaxing. There’s been a lot of reading/studying, watching Netflix, cooking, and cleaning. I went on a mini health kick and planned out a whole week of low-carb, fresh meals, full of fruits and vegetables (and Felix went along with it because he’s awesome and always goes along with my ideas). By day 2, all I wanted was bread… and french fries, and cheese, and sugar. The fact that I wasn’t allowing anything with high calories, made me crave things I don’t even normally eat. And although we ate large portions at every meal, we were always hungry after we ate. There are only so many fresh veggies and nuts you can eat. But we completed the full week! And honestly, we both felt really healthy by the end of it. We’re not completely changing our eating habits because it gets really expensive grocery shopping for it, and frankly, sometimes it’s nice to spoil yourself with something that is completely unhealthy.
Last week, 3 girls from my old club team and I had a little reunion and went out to dinner and drinks. It’s been years since we’ve all been together and it was amazing seeing them all again. One of the girls is 7 months pregnant and getting married in 6 months. She has an adorably perfect bump and is literally glowing. It made me feel old, but in a really good way. I am so happy that we have stayed in touch and even if we only get together every few years, I will always consider them close friends.
Seeing them made me feel really nostalgic, and I started missing all of my friends; the ones I grew up with, the ones I went to college with, even the ones that still live in Denver . We all get so caught up in our lives and get really bad about staying in touch. I wish I had the time and money to visit everyone.
Oh, and about the title of this post. There is a lady bug living in our shower. In fact, there are 2. They’ve been there for about a month now. I don’t know how they got in, and I don’t know how they are surviving… but they’re there. There are very few creatures whose habitation in my shower would make me smile, but I have always considered it fabulous luck if I saw a ladybug or if one landed on me while I was outside. So I feel pretty optimistic that 2 have chosen to live in our shower.
As always, Happy Sunday!
